2008 - Government of India (GOI) gave award “Nirmal Gram Puraskar” (NGP) for promoting sanitation coverage in a campaign mode to ensure better health and quality of life for people in Thurakapalem.
2013 - Election Commission conducted Gram Panchayat elections in the Month of July. Thurakapalem Voters elected New Grama Panchyat team ( w.e.f 18.07.2013) President : Maddineni Showraiah, Vice President : Bellamkonda Thomasaiah, Ward Members : BhooLakshmi Gorentla, Anthony Merry Gali, Innaysamma Mandava, Lurdhuraju Pudota, Ramesh Babu Pudota.
